Getting ready to build...

Two Saturdays ago we went out to the land that we're building our new house on to clear a fence row and let the builder mark off where the new house would go. Here's some pics of Chris doing some manual labor and Lexi playing. We brought Lexi's 4-wheeler with us and she had a blast driving around the big open, FLAT field. Up until now the poor kid hasn't had much room to ride it on because our old house was up on a steep hill. Chris and our future neighbor Mike pulled part of the fence row up so trucks could go through. Thanks for your help Mike!
Thursday we will be officially moved out of the old house. Moving all our stuff has been a lot harder work than I thought. It's funny, when I was in college moving took me like half a day. This time I have been packing for a week and a half and am still not done!

Our Little Valentine

Hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. My mother-in-law took this picture yesterday of Lexi showing off the Valentines outfit her Aunt Bobbie bought her. Isn't it adorable!

The Bartons Are Homeless!!!

Well, it's official.... we've sold our house. When Chris & I made the decision to build a new house we figured we better go ahead & put our current house on the market due to the poor housing market. Well God answered our prayers a little earlier than we thought and the first couple that came & looked at our house bought the darn thing! So basically we have until March first to find a place to live and get our stuff moved! Oh, did I mention we haven't even broke ground on the new house yet? Looks like its going to be a busy spring! I wonder what Lexi will think of moving? It's bound to be confusing to her. The poor thing will be having to move twice in one year. At least the last time we move will be the last time she moves until college (hopefully).
Wish us luck in building our new house! (we need it......)

Checking In........

I haven't posted a blog in a while so I thought I would drop in with an update on the Barton family. Not much has been going on our recovery from the holidays. Chris and I had to take Lexi to the doctor Sunday morning because she had gotten very sick during the night. The poor thing is feeling better and staying at home with daddy today (since its MLK Day) and resting. But Chris & I were worried because she wasn't acting like our "wild little Lexi." Hopefully she will make a fast recovery, but for now I least I get to enjoy her letting me hold and love on her like I got to when she was a little baby.
Lexi and I have been trying to talk her daddy into a new addition to our family for Spring..... a dog! Lexi is crazy about dogs and I think this spring would be a perfect time for a new pet. (Hopefully we'll have better luck than we had with the cat last fall!) So any of you reading this, mention to Chris how much Lexi needs a dog!

We will miss you, Granny South

My little Granny South passed away on New Years Eve at the age of 92. She was a fiesty little woman who cooked almost everyday of her life and thought her grandkids did no wrong. She is now in heaven with her husband of 73 years, my Papa South who she terribly missed. Geneva South never minded tell you what she thought, never minded cooking you a meal, & never let you leave her house before she told you she loved you. She was truely loved & will be truely missed.
