Checking In........

I haven't posted a blog in a while so I thought I would drop in with an update on the Barton family. Not much has been going on our recovery from the holidays. Chris and I had to take Lexi to the doctor Sunday morning because she had gotten very sick during the night. The poor thing is feeling better and staying at home with daddy today (since its MLK Day) and resting. But Chris & I were worried because she wasn't acting like our "wild little Lexi." Hopefully she will make a fast recovery, but for now I least I get to enjoy her letting me hold and love on her like I got to when she was a little baby.
Lexi and I have been trying to talk her daddy into a new addition to our family for Spring..... a dog! Lexi is crazy about dogs and I think this spring would be a perfect time for a new pet. (Hopefully we'll have better luck than we had with the cat last fall!) So any of you reading this, mention to Chris how much Lexi needs a dog!

We will miss you, Granny South

My little Granny South passed away on New Years Eve at the age of 92. She was a fiesty little woman who cooked almost everyday of her life and thought her grandkids did no wrong. She is now in heaven with her husband of 73 years, my Papa South who she terribly missed. Geneva South never minded tell you what she thought, never minded cooking you a meal, & never let you leave her house before she told you she loved you. She was truely loved & will be truely missed.

Christmas 2007

We had a great Christmas! Lots of food, presents, and fun. Lexi is a very lucky little girl to be blessed with so many family members who were OVERLY generous this being the first Christmas she could really enjoy the festivities. And although we can't walk through our house at the moment (for all the toys & Christmas decorations everywhere), Chris and I feel veryblessed as well.

Christmas morning Lexi decided to sleep late, so Chris & I wound up waking her up about 7:45 so she could see what Santa had left her. Talk about mean parents!

She probably liked her baby dolls the best of all. She's been getting her diapers out & trying to put them on the babies!

Like I said, we had a great Christmas, but it was kind of rushed. I think we'll just celebrate the New Year at home.

Christmas.... ready or not, here it comes!

Every year I have this big plan to get all my shopping done early, so I can enjoy my holiday without the crazy madness of last minute shopping. Especially now since Lexi is here I want to focus on this special time of year and cherish every minute of Christmas while she is little. It's funny what special joy a child can bring at Christmas! But this year, like every other, I find myself running aroun like a crazy person trying to get this and that finished before the big day.

I want Lexi to grow up knowing the true meaning of Christmas and I hope we can give her many good Christmas childhood memories to cherish for the rest of your life.

I am so blessed to have so many people to share Christmas with and a family that will get so much happiness out of watching my little girl tear into her presents on Christmas. There is no better gift than watching a child's eyes light up when they finally get to tear into their gifts on Christmas day.
