After church on Sunday we went to my Granny & Papa South's house. The family had decided to get together for one last family visit there before the house sold. It was kind of sad because I knew that would be the last time I would be in that house. I thought about all the memories that were made there and the wonderful life they had shared there. The grand kids all got to take an item from the house to remember them by. We looked at old pictures (Chris got a kick out of seeing some of my not-so- attractive years) and Lexi had a great time playing with her cousins.
I have to be honest even though we were at Granny & Papa's with all the rest of the family there, it didn't feel like Granny & Papa's. The house looked different, smelled different.... I guess what was really different is that neither one of them were there. There I sat at my Great- grand parents house looking at my two year old, my Mom & Aunt, and my Nana. It was like I was looking at the circle of life right in front of me. I'm not always good at putting how I feel into words, but while we were visiting this song by Alan Jackson called "Remember When" kept playing in my head:
"Remember when old ones died
and new were born
And life was changed,
disassembled, rearranged......"
Thank you God for my family and for allowing me the privilege to be a mom, daughter, & grand daughter!
